Clergy Reflection – September 8, 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

When I was a child my Dad taught me the silly phrase, “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!” And so it is this coming Sunday the 10th. As a fun way to kick off our program year this fall we are inaugurating “Celebration Sundae!” We will be returning to our usual Sunday services of 8am and 10am. The 10am service this Sunday will be a family service, which means it will be a bit shorter and include a children’s sermon and children doing the readings and prayers. However, rest assured, the service is meant for people of all ages!

Following the 10am service, we will gather on the lawn in front of the church for make-your-own-Sundaes, registering for church school, bidding on silent auction items, and fellowship. We have also made name tags for everyone in the congregation as a way for us to connect more easily with each other. We encourage parishioners to wear them every Sunday going forward.

St. Paul writes, “Rejoice always … give thanks in all circumstances” [1 Thess. 5:16, 18]. Let Sunday be a day of rejoicing in our parish community, giving thanks especially for our children… and ice cream!

You are very dear to me and to God in Christ.

Faithfully yours,
