Children and Youth Formation

The goal of youth formation at St. John’s is to create spaces for children to come closer to God. We strive to help children feel comfortable, loved, safe, and valued at church, to teach them about the roots of our faith, prepare them for active participation in a community of faith and worship, and encourage them to live and share the values of our traditions.

Youth are also encouraged to become active members of our parish by serving in worship.

Children’s Chapel

The First Sunday of every month we hold Children's Chapel during the sermon and prayers of the people. This allows children a chance to hear an age-appropriate lesson on the readings of the day or the season. Adults are welcome to attend with their child, but the lesson is geared toward children.

Confirmation Class

A Confirmation Class is convened annually, typically geared toward eighth graders. The next class begins in January 2024. Please be in touch with our clergy for more information.

Childcare

Children of all ages are always welcome in our services. The sound of children in church is holy! That said, for parents and caregivers who prefer it, childcare is available at the 10:00 service for children 6 and under. Our childcare program, held in the basement, is supervised by two adults.
